I hear all too often, "Your prices are too high." Or, "I can find someone who does the same thing for cheaper." And my answer is: It's probably true but I am worth it. I know that there are a lot of people out there who call themselves family photographers. But I'm not just anyone with a decent camera. I have years of experience behind me. Twelve years to be exact and I have a background in photojournalism from college. I know how to capture those perfect moments that you will want to remember forever. And I also know how to edit those photos so that they look their absolute best. So, when you hire me, you are not just paying for someone to take some pictures. You are paying for my time, my skill, my expertise. And that is why I charge what I charge. Because I am worth it.
But if you are looking for ways to save money on a photo session, I've got some tips for you . . .
Use the studio instead (petite sessions available)
If you're looking to get some professional photos taken but don't want to spend a lot of money, you might want to consider scheduling a studio session instead of a full signature session. Studio sessions are generally less expensive than full signature sessions, and have a 30 minute time limit. With a studio session, you'll have access to all the same props, backgrounds and studio wardrobe that you would with a full signature session. So if you're looking to save some money and still get some great photos, scheduling a studio session is definitely the way to go.
Use the Wardrobe (save on buying clothing for the family)
Did you know that I have a studio wardrobe of clothing available for use during photo sessions. This can be a great way to save money, as you won't have to go out and buy new clothes for your family to wear. The studio wardrobe is full of styles and colors that photograph beautifully and will ensure you look great in your photos. Plus, you won't have to worry about stains or wrinkles, as the studio will take care of all that for you. So next time you're planning a family photo session, be sure to ask about the studio's wardrobe options.
Payment Plans (not really a savings but does distribute how you spend)
I offer Payment Plans which is not really a savings but it does distribute how you spend on your photo sessions. You can make your payments in cash, check, or credit card. To sign up for a Payment Plan, you must put down a deposit of $200 which will go towards your total balance. The deposit is non-refundable if you should cancel your Payment Plan. The remaining balance is due two weeks before your scheduled session date. If the balance is not paid in full, I reserve the right to keep the deposit and cancel the session without rescheduling. In case of inclement weather, I will work with you to reschedule your session at no additional charge.
Mini Sessions
Mini sessions are a great way to save money while still getting professional portraits of your family. To participate in mini sessions, you can choose from a variety of dates that work best for you. Plus, collections are priced differently and offer lower price points. Heirloom mini sessions in February are perfect for capturing special moments with your loved ones, while the Motherhood Event in April will focus on capturing the bond between mothers and their children. And what could be more festive than holiday mini sessions, held in November? Whether you're looking for family photos or portraits of your children only, mini sessions are a great way to capture memories that will last a lifetime.
You don't need ALL the digital files (3 collections to choose from)
A lot of people think that they need to purchase all of the digital files when they get their photos taken but that's not necessarily the case. I offer three different collections, each of which includes some digital files and some print credit. The first collection offers 10 digital files, the second collection includes 25 digital files and the third includes all but really 25 is the perfect amount of files. In all honesty, you don't really need more than that. Just pick the collection that best fits your needs and budget and you'll be all set! And with the way the collections are set up you're not just walking away with digital files, you are also able to get tangible product that will last for your family to enjoy for years to come.
So, if you have always worried about money when it comes to booking family photos, I urge you to take a step back and remember that these moments are priceless. And, in the long run, they're worth every penny. Don't wait any longer - schedule your session now!
