You know that feeling when you catch yourself staring at your kid and thinking, How are you already this big?
That’s the whole point.
Because these years are loud and fast and full of tiny details you swear you’ll remember forever, until you’re standing in the kitchen holding a tiny sock like it’s evidence of a past life. You deserve images that don’t just prove you were there. You deserve portraits that feel like your family, and look like art on your walls.
I’m Michele, a Twin Cities photographer with 15 years of experience photographing families, motherhood, babies, and all the in between. I’m here for the real stuff, the connection, the way your toddler clings to your leg one minute and sprints away the next. And I’m also here to make it look beautiful.
You already have the quick phone photos. I love those for what they are.
What I create is different.
I create polished, timeless portraits that still feel honest. Images that hold your connection, your energy, and the little things you’ll miss later. The kind of work that belongs in your home, not buried in a camera roll.
I’m drawn to motherhood because it’s powerful and complicated and tender, sometimes all in the same minute. I’m drawn to families because they’re unpredictable in the best way. And I’m drawn to the in between moments because that’s where the truth lives.
A photo session doesn’t need to feel like a production. You’re already doing a lot.
My job is to make this easy to walk into and easy to trust. I’ll guide you gently, give you direction that feels natural, and keep things moving without turning your family into a performance.
Expect a mix of calm structure and room to breathe. Your kids can be themselves. You can exhale. And you can actually be in the frame without worrying about what your hair is doing every two seconds.
My Northeast Minneapolis studio is intentionally simple and peaceful, with a curated wardrobe for moms and kids, thoughtful styling support, and a space that feels calm the moment you walk in. There are soft places to land and little comforts for little people, because small details make a big difference when you’re parenting.
No props. No forced smiles. No awkward posing that doesn’t feel like you.
Just images that land somewhere between real and refined.
Getting everyone out the door is still going to take effort. You’re a parent, not a magician.
But once you arrive, you’re not doing this alone.
I have two teenagers and a dog, and my camera roll is exactly what you’d expect: a mix of beautiful light, real life, and the occasional “why is this happening” moment.
Before “real life” photography was a thing, I was already drawn to storytelling. I have a photojournalism background, which means I’m always watching for what’s true, not what’s trendy.
Over the years, my work has been featured in magazines, books, and blogs. I’ve also been named one of the Best Maternity and Newborn Photographers in Minneapolis by Expertise.com, and one of the Top 6 lifestyle photographers in Minneapolis by Peerspace.
But the part I care about most is simpler than that.
It’s when clients come back year after year because they felt comfortable, cared for, and genuinely seen.
Before it was cool to photograph “real life,” I was already doing it. With a background in photojournalism, I’ve always leaned toward storytelling. No trendy filters. No gimmicks. Just genuine connection and honest images that mean something.
Over the years, my work has been featured in magazines, books, and blogs—but the biggest honor? Seeing my images hung in homes, passed around at family gatherings, or paged through by kids who know that’s what love looked like growing up.
I was named one of the Best Maternity & Newborn Photographers in Minneapolis by Expertise.com, and one of the Top 6 best lifestyle photographers in Minneapolis. But the real win? Clients who come back year after year—because they felt seen, heard, and beautifully documented.
If you want photos that feel like your family and look beautiful in your home, I’d love to work with you.
