Instagram has become the world’s personal photo album, allowing others to share their lives with whoever they want to.
While it’s great to be able to store these memories online, there’s something special about materializing them.
More and more people are printing Instagram photo books for their homes or as gifts for family and friends.
Thinking about doing the same? These tips will help.
- Tell a story. Center your photo book around a specific theme to tell a story. This could be anything from a relationship to a vacation or school year.
- Be selective. When you have a large number of options to choose from, it can be difficult to narrow down your options. However, spending time selecting the right photos is better than overstuffing your photobook.
- Match up the filters. While all the filters don’t need to be the same, it always looks better if the photo book has a more cohesive look, even if it’s per section.
- Add some extras. To give the photo book a personal touch, incorporate some hashtags, text, or sayings that fit in with specific pages or sections. Another option is to give each photo a full caption.
- Coordinate the colors. Aim to match the color scheme of your Instagram shots to the color scheme of the photo book for a more put-together look.
- Keep resolution in mind. Unfortunately, Instagram can dilute the resolution of your photos, making them difficult to print. Lower the “Lux” setting to prevent this from happening. If this doesn’t work, sharpen your photos in an app such as Snapseed.
- Consider sizing. What you intend to do with the Instagram book will determine its size. If you want something you can place on a coffee table, opt for a smaller, more generic size. Any printing service will have information on sizing on their website.
There are endless possibilities when it comes to printing an Instagram photo book. Have fun with it and make it your own.
