It has been three years since we last went on spring break! Something has always come up and last year we wanted to go on one but Covid prevented us from doing anything other than driving up to Duluth Minnesota. At first I wasn't sure if going on spring break this year was a wise move but the kids really needed it and let's face it so did Kevin and I. So we packed out bags and headed to Fort Lauderdale Florida. Don't worry we weren't with all the spring breakers going cray cray! We stayed at our resort and stayed a good distance from most people. It was more crowded than we are used to though. Not sure if that's usual for the location or if it was unusual because so many people wanted to get out this year! I have to say most people were very respectful of keeping a distance in the elevators and wearing masks inside.
So while I was super excited to be out of the Minnesota cold for a bit I was actually really excited to be out in a new environment with my film cameras. Vacation usually feeds my creative soul as well because it's the one time I can slow down and think. I didn't get overly creative with my shots but I was just happy to be out and photographing with film because that has become my love. I tried shooting a roll of film a day and I did manage to get about 4 rolls used up. I used portra 800 because that's what was left in my camera, ektar because that's the best for sunny at the beach shots. I also used one roll of fuji400h. I've been using the rest of the fuji up very slowly and wisely because once this is gone that will be it for me. I have two more rolls of 120 and one roll of 35mm left. I'm so sad. I thought I had used some portra 160 but I think that's actually still in the camera and not yet finished.
So let's get to the good stuff and share the images I have from our little spring break vacation.
And for the love of film . . . . my film images
