Looking to use your favorite digital photographs to create a keepsake that can be shared with the people you love? Placing your beloved memories in a custom photobook is one of the best ways to enjoy these moments time and time again.
However, if you really want to end up with an eye-catching result, here are a few tips to follow.
A Little Planning Goes a Long Way
Before you jump straight into the layout of your photobook, take the time to do some planning. Start by organizing all the photos you want to include in your book. You want them to all be high quality and the right sizes. Basically, they need to be large enough to print. While you’re sorting through these images, highlight your top picks. This way, you can make sure the right photos get the most attention.
Now that you know which photos you want to include, you’ll know how many pages your photobook should have and what size would best suit your needs. If you’re planning to add text to your photobook, think of a few captions, quotes, or descriptions as you sort through your images.
Lastly, sort your photos in chronological order – this will make your story easier to follow.
Pick a Theme
By deciding on a theme, you ensure your photobook has a cohesive look from cover to cover. For example, if you want to dedicate a photobook to the vacations you took over the last year, you can choose fonts, colors, and illustrations that match this theme. Some of the most common themes that people choose are children, travel, family memories, and weddings or engagements.
Tell a Story
Once you start laying out the photos and text, keep in mind that you want to tell a story, this is why having a theme and sorting your photos chronologically really helps. Don’t rush this process, rather think carefully about the photos you’re including and where you’re placing them. Once you’ve laid out the entire book, page through it as if you were seeing it for the first time – is it telling the story you had in your mind?
Whether you’re creating a photobook for yourself or as a gift for someone special, following these steps will ensure you’re more than happy with the result. Don’t forget to choose a reputable printer that offers multiple album options.
