Hey there, beautiful people! I wanted to share an incredibly special experience I had recently during a newborn photo session with Kate, Adam, and their adorable kiddos. If you’re considering booking a newborn photo session in Minneapolis, this post will give you a sneak peek into what you can expect, and hopefully, a bit of inspiration too!
A Beautiful Spring Memory
First, let’s rewind to last spring. I had a magical session with Kate, Adam, and their kids, the oldest and middle children. Picture this: a stunning location with cherry blossoms in full bloom, and the kids playing hide and seek among the trees. It was one of those picture-perfect days that make you love what you do even more. The kids had an absolute blast, and the photos turned out beautifully, capturing their playful spirits and the gorgeous backdrop.
Welcoming the New Baby
Fast forward to January 27, when Kate went into labor. Their new baby made his grand entrance on January 28, 2024, and the joy and gratitude felt by Kate and Adam were palpable. They were the only ones at the hospital, cherishing those first precious moments with their newest family member.
The Studio Wardrobe: A Game Changer
One of the highlights of this recent newborn photo session in Minneapolis was the use of my studio wardrobe. Kate was thrilled with how stress-free it made the whole experience. With a newborn and two young kids, not having to worry about planning out everyone’s outfits was a huge relief. Here’s what everyone wore from the client closet:
- Dad in a button-down linen shirt
- Mom in a beautiful cream dress
- The oldest in a cozy sweater
- The middle child in a lovely tulle dress
- The baby swaddle up snugly
This setup not only saved time but also ensured everyone looked effortlessly stylish and coordinated. Kate mentioned that using the studio wardrobe for the first time was a game-changer, and it really showed in the stunning photos I captured.
Go with the Flow
Newborn sessions can be unpredictable, and that’s totally okay! Kate shared some fantastic advice for parents getting newborn photographs taken: enjoy the experience and go with the flow. Babies and little ones have their own schedules and moods, and the best photos often come from those candid, unplanned moments.
During the session, I kept things flexible and fun. The kids were amazing with their baby brother. It was heartwarming to see them helping mom and dad, and their bond with the baby was evident in every shot. The middle child even asked if they missed the baby’s birthday and where the cake was when they first brought him home – how adorable is that?
Making Memories with Ease
As a photographer, my goal is to make the session enjoyable and stress-free for the whole family. Kate appreciated how efficiently I worked, capturing beautiful images even with the kids being easily distracted. I made the session fun, and the kids looked at ease and natural in every photo. It’s all about creating an environment where everyone can be themselves, and the smiles and interactions come naturally.
Kate and Adam’s relaxed and joyful approach made all the difference. They didn’t bring a sentimental item this time, but they had planned to bring items from their initial shoot with their oldest child. However, mom brain got the best of Kate – something all parents can relate to!
This newborn photo session in Minneapolis was a beautiful blend of joy, love, and family togetherness. Seeing the connection between the siblings and their new baby was truly special, and I’m so grateful to have captured these moments for Kate and Adam.
If you’re considering booking a newborn session, I hope this glimpse into my session gives you an idea of what to expect. Remember, the key is to enjoy the experience, be flexible, and trust that beautiful images will come naturally.
