During this global pandemic it has become not unusual to either not have newborn photos all together or wait and have them when baby has gotten a bit older. This mama who brought in her beautiful baby didn't actually want to do newborn photos not because of the pandemic but because she said all her babies looked the same. This is baby number 5 for this family and I thought that was pretty amusing but when she brought her 2 month old in I noticed right away how much it looked like big brother who I last photographed when he was two. The genes run strong in this family. One of the greatest things about waiting until baby is a bit older is their personality starts to come through and that is super fun to photograph. It can be hard to capture this age in a short period of time. I do recommend if you are purposely waiting for baby to be older 3 months old and having the ability to raise their head is a great milestone session to schedule. If you waited a bit but maybe your newborn is just 30-60 days new you might consider scheduling a session and expecting to be in the photos because baby may behave better when in mother's arms. Otherwise scheduling your session around naps and meal times is probably the best bet for happy baby photos. This session was held at my Northeast Minneapolis natural light studio. I love how simple baby is dressed. I love white on babies because it really does showcase them. Simplicity focuses everything on the subject. Your attention is directed to baby and baby only. And isn't he just a doll. Loving those big brown eyes. And while I don't love props at my sessions, I do love my Moses basket for babies and all baby sessions from newborn to sitting babies, it's just the best. Now let's take a peek at some of my favorite images from this older newborn session in the Minneapolis studio.
