Have you ever wondered who runs the show at mQn Photography? I thought as we wrap up one of the busiest years in my career I'd give a little more in depth response to what does mQn stand for?

First things first, mQn is simply my initials in a formal written way. m is for Michele (yes with one L) Q is my last name, Quattrin and my middle name is Nicole. It's a good thing though that I don't use my maiden name as I would then be mAn photography. No thank you. lol I always thought the capital Q was really pretty in some fonts but I don't even use it that way in my logo. I've had the same logo for over 10 years! I keep thinking of updating it but it's classic and simple just like me so I haven't really found anything better.

While I have such a great support system with my family. I am the only one running the show around here. Just me! My kids will help me when I want to try new things and before covid hit were great assistants at the studio and during some sessions. I'm hoping now that we are all vaccinated I can start bringing them back around because let me tell you, little kids? They LOVE big kids. It's a fact.

I've been running this business for well over 10 years now. It's crazy to think. We've moved 3 times and each time I thought I'd stop and just stay home with the kids. But every time I found my way back to it. I think I find it hard to sit idle. Though I know having kids isn't about sitting home. When I wasn't "working", I was on the boards of moms clubs and PTAs so I was always super busy. And before kids I actually worked in Equity Research for an Investment Bank. My background is actually journalism with an emphasis in photo journalism. When I graduated college the newspapers weren't doing so well so getting a job in that field wasn't easy but investment banking was hot so that's where I went and I worked with an analyst covering newspaper stocks. Sort of relevant wouldn't you say?
