Personal Blog Post
This year was my daughter's first year on her high school's fast-pitch softball team. She's an 8th grader. Last year as a 7th grader she was going to play on the freshman team but COVID cancelled the season. This year though she made their B-Squad which is the team below varsity but above Freshman. They didn't have a JV team this year due to not enough pitchers and catchers. Kendall is mainly a pitcher but is a great fielder too so is actually a great utility player for her teams. Unfortunately a lot of time with pitchers they don't always like them playing when they aren't pitching for fear of them getting injured. So it was only a handful of times that she got to play first base or be out in the outfield.
I volunteered to be her team photographer and it was hard to make sure I was being fair to everyone. She told me I had too many pictures of her but I didn't even submit a lot of hers. ha! I literally had a checklist to make sure each girl on the roster was showed at bat, on base or in their position. Many girls got pulled up to Varsity so many times I wasn't sure if I got everyone or not. Hopefully I did.
Being on the high school team was such a great experience for her that we can't wait until next year. It will be interesting to see if she continues to pitch because though she likes it and she's not half bad at it, she doesn't want to sit around when she's not pitching so I have a feeling she might end up giving it up for more play time on the field and at bat.
But now with the high school season under wraps she'll start summer ball and then that will lead to fall ball. Then it's break time but she'll continue with off season training to keep those skills up. It's so fun watching her play; she's a much better player than I was (I played from 2nd grade to 6th grade on a pretty good team, but I was not an asset more of a liability, lol)
Ok so thanks for letting me ramble a bit on a personal blog post, here are some of the images I took of her this season.
