As spring turns to summer the fields are alive with tall swaying grasses. A beautiful muted pastel green color, not the neon green of actual summer quite yet. I kept driving by the field near our house and thinking how I needed to grab some pictures out there. We finally had a night free of activities and since the sun sets so late we were able to make it work. You have to be quick. These beautiful fields get mowed up fast. As with all spring and summer photo sessions outside you have be aware of ticks. If you have tick spray (as well as bug spray) you should consider using it with your outside sessions but at the very least always check for ticks after you have been in the fields. Surprisingly we were fine, neither myself nor my daughter found any ticks on us. I actually remember once when my daughter was probably about 3 or 4 I found a wood tick in her ear! I freaked out but managed to get it out. But I remember I was like well if we can get ticks just siting around at home we might as well go out to the abandoned field and have some fun. So now I never let the fear of ticks keep me home but of course I would never expect clients to feel the same way. You should only do what you are comfortable with. But open fields are so beautiful to photograph at in the spring, summer and fall actually. And right around sunset just makes it all the more lovely. This is one of my favorite fields still available but I know one day they will use it to build some condos and I'll be forever sad. I hate seeing so much development in areas that were once open land. In any event let me share with you a little tall grass in the field photo session with my daughter.
