As a Minneapolis family photographer, I've explored endless charming locations for photo sessions and have met countless incredible families! Sometimes the locations are the standout of a session, and sometimes families swiftly steal the spotlight. But every now and then, a location and a family fit together so seamlessly that it feels meant to be! And after just a quick glance at the Cregeur family's photos, you'll certainly agree that their Tamarack Nature Center family photography session was one of those magical treats!

I first discovered how flawless a Nature Center could be for a family photography session when I moved very near Tamarack Nature Center and took my own kids to explore.  I knew right away that I had to bring a lovely family and my camera here ASAP! So many of my clients have now had their family photos taken here in the fall because the foliage and landscape is perfect! 

The last time we attempted this photo session at this location little brother was not having it.  He lasted a full 5 minutes before all hell broke loose.  After they left feeling pretty defeated, they arrived home to finally realize why he wasn't feeling great.  Let's just say after that he was feeling great.  lol  I will say we never had to retake the session because I still managed to get some lovely images of their family which you can see here:  Fall Family Session at Tamarack.

I was worried we were in for a repeat session when my beautiful family arrived and brother did not want to get out of the car.  He took a little bit to warm up to get out of the car and even a little bit to actually want his picture taken BUT it did not take long after we got him out of the car and to a desired location at the Nature Center.  

It was quite a cold day not terrible but pretty miserable for kiddos.  So we actually didn't move around the nature center like I normally would have; we stayed put in the one spot and it turned out BEAUTIFUL!

The field with its brown grass and the golden light between the empty trees really let the family be the stand out part of the images.  Which gives me all kinds of feels because I love when it's the family that is the biggest part of the session not the location.  I'm a people photographer not a landscape photographer.  

But let's be honest: how could the images from our Tamarack Nature Center family photography session be anything less than stunning with a family like this one in front of the lens! Finding the perfect spot to take family photos isn't always easy, but you better believe I'll be returning here over and over again! And late fall at this location is quite lovely, it's a bit emptier and while not as vibrant in foliage still quite beautiful.

As a family photographer, I am uniquely blessed to work with the same clients repeatedly as their family grows and changes. I love to document the deepening love between parents, growing (and new!) littles, and even the arrival of new pets in the family! Our families transform so much from one year to the next, and I treasure every chance I get to bear witness to those changes.
