Yes spring is here I know it doesn't feel like it yet, but it will. And while I'm think a lot about the blossoming trees coming our way I'm also thinking about moms! New moms, old moms, tired moms. You know ALL moms! And I thought what about a list of ideas to gift to our moms this Mother's Day! Mother's day this year is May 8th and will be here before you know it so plan now! Or you'll end up with a bouquet of wilted flowers calling it a day. Moms deserve better. Be better.
1. Sleep - what mom really wants is to sleep. Guess what this is FREE! Let her sleep but don't tell her you're going to let her sleep just let her sleep. Surprise her with your gesture, grab the kids BEFORE they wake her up. Know a single mom? Offer to take the kids for an hour or so on a different day (or even a slumber party) so she can sleep in. She might actually want to see and spend time with her kids on Mother's day so arranging a different day so she can sleep is brilliant.
2. Spa Day - yes we really do love spa gift cards to schedule a day to be pampered. Want to be extra special? Schedule it for her and surprise her when you drop her off. Of course make sure you find out when she doesn't have anything planned. You might have to be sneaky for this one. One of my favorite spas is The Woodhouse Day Spa
3. Photo Session - Yes a shameless plug from yours truly but moms are often behind the camera, dads don't always love a photo session they do it for their wives mainly. But a motherhood session for your wife a children is certainly special. She gets to look beautiful and ends up with images of her and her babies that she'll cherish for a lifetime and bonus when you're children are older they too will cherish these images. I know as a spouse who may not like having their picture taken trust me when your wife may not want to splurge on a motherhood session without you involved so gift her one so she knows it's money worth spent. And bonus my Motherhood Event is scheduling now and you can get all the information you need right here: MINNEAPOLIS MOTHERHOOD EVENT
4. Jewelry - My husband once said to me, you don't really want jewelry do you? I was dumbstruck. Yes I want jewelry, have you never heard a diamond is a girl's best friend. I don't think men understand this one but we would NEVER turn down a beautiful piece of jewelry and if you have your child's name engraved or their birthstones in it, priceless! Do it, she'll love it. I promise.
5. Fruity Flowers - This is something the kids can get involved with. If mom loves fruit this is a great time to enlist their help in creating a bouquet of fruit. Use cookie cutters and have kids cut pineapple and melons into flowers. The kids will have a blast doing this, mom will love eating it and you'll feel like a champion for having the idea. Word of caution, clean up your mess don't leave it for mom to do.
6. Embr Wave - This is for us seasoned moms, you know moms well into their 40's. My husband actually got this for me for Christmas last year and it is absolutely fantastic. It helps keep those hot flashes at bay. But it also helps if your the kind of person that is cold all day, it helps with that too. I've actually been sleeping so much better with it, check it out. I'm not getting any commissions for it I just simply love it.
7. Brunch - Take mom out for brunch let her have a few mimosas and then give her a few more because you're going to let her go home and take a nap afterward.
8. Photography Products - ok yes another shameless plug from me, what good is it to invest in a photo session when you just have digital files sitting on a hard drive. Generations from now your hard drive isn't going to be around. You're going to be lucky if your hard drive lasts 5 years. I believe moms don't always buy photography products from their session because they want to "save money" and do it themselves. One I hate to break it to you but your not saving money. You're investing your time and money into a mediocre product that might not look stellar years from now. It seems like you are saving money because moms never really put a price on their time which is extremely valuable and you're just giving your money to a big corporation instead of investing with the small business that originally created the beautiful art of your family. I know my business only provides quality product and I offer multiple price points so head over to your gallery store (you might have to e-mail me to get access to it again but I'd be happy to open up your gallery store) You can also get a peek at some of the beautiful products I offer here: MINNEAPOLIS PHOTOGRAPHY PRODUCTS PROTECT YOUR LEGACY
9. Succulent Plants - Flowers are fine and all but they die, plants are great because they should live awhile unless you're like me and don't have a green thumb and this is where succulent plants come in. Air plants are another good option and you know what I really want this year? Is one of those things where you can grow a garden indoors, with lettuce and basil and stuff like that. I've seen this awesome tower thing but I think that's just for outdoors and while I'd love that I have to think something that would work indoors too because you know 6 months of winter.
10. Wine - I don't even think I need to explain this one do I?
Wow what a post I wasn't expecting it to be this long but I hope you got some ideas on what you can give the mom in your life, whether it's your wife, spouse, friend, mom, godmother, grandmother, you get the idea; all moms deserve to be spoiled.
Today I also want to share with you a Morro Bay Maternity and Family Photographer who is sharing a maternity session. You're going to want to check it out.
