Themed photo sessions are the perfect way way to update your photo collections and capture new memories with your friends and family while having fun at the same time.
If you have a photo session of your own coming up but you want to try and do something different, here are a few fun ideas for themed sessions to inspire you.
Tea Party
This one is especially great if you have young girls in your home. Set out a table with some chairs, get the girls all dressed up in something pretty and capture them enjoying some milk and cookies.
Back to School
Books, desks, chalk boards, suitcases, these are all great props that you can use for a fun back-to-school themed photo session.
A Day at the Pool
This is one theme that the entire family can get in on. All you need are a few towels, sun loungers, sunglasses and bottles of soda and you can capture some fun, summertime shots of you and your family.
Storytime
If you would prefer to stay indoors, why not put your family in some comfy clothing that will look good on camera and have a story session with your kids. These intimate, candid shots are perfect for the family photo wall. Can be done at the library, bookstore or of course these are just as fun outdoors as well.
Springtime
Now that the weather is warmer, a simple session in a beautiful park or garden that’s bursting with color makes for some lovely shots and is a theme that works well for a variety of occasions too.
Sandlot
One sure fire way to get your kids interested in pictures is to let them have fun! Play some baseball (or soccer or frisbee or you name it), run around and get dirty.
Circus
Everyone likes a circus! Playing make believe can seriously bring some great smiles to your children. This theme can be as crazy or subtle as you want and boys and girls both have fun!
Camp Out
Think thick, quilted throws and blankets, cushions, and mason jars. Find a quiet spot in the woods or under a tree in the park and you’ll have the perfect setting for a makeshift vintage campout mini session.
And just to throw a couple more out at you!
Roll out the picnic blanket: Picnics are always a whole lot of fun and the ideas for props are endless. There’s also the bonus of having a beautiful outdoor backdrop to complete session. A picnic-themed session works in so many scenarios too, from family photos to engagement sessions; it’s a romantic and playful option.
Get cooking: A themed photo shoot is the perfect excuse to get in the kitchen and cook or bake with your kids, especially because it makes for some fun family photos.
There are countless themes that you can use for your photo sessions but there’s no reason to overcomplicate it either. You know your friends and family best so pick a theme and location that speaks to your unique personalities.
