I had such a beautiful photo session with this family at North Oaks’ Hill Farm. North Oaks is a private city/community so not everyone can photograph on our lands but because I live here in this wonderful city I can invite guests. I photograph at Hill Farm quite a bit actually, I had one previous fall session there and then just had another recently. Plus I photograph my own family here often. Hill Farm is popular with our residents and is a great location choice year round.
I prefer to photograph families an hour before sunsets. That is my ideal time I give to clients but I also understand that doesn’t work for everyone and so I do offer earlier times if need be. But it’s surprising how different just an hour can be. This family chose to have their session an hour before the sunset and it was perfect. Hill Farm is great but when you are there early it’s hard to get a beautiful picture in front of the barn because it’s just too bright. Unfortunately for this family we couldn’t even photograph in front of the barn because a big black truck was parked up there! In all my years living here I’ve never seen anyone parked up by the barn. I guess they were preparing for some new annual pumpkin patch thing. But that’s ok we went to the back of the barn and there are plenty of other areas to use. My favorite spot is actually not even really near the barn and the setting sun makes it so beautiful. See if you can tell which images I’m talking about . . . .
