As a Minneapolis family photographer, I had the pleasure of working with a lovely mom and her three amazing children for a family photoshoot near their home in Plymouth, Minnesota. This family loves, cooking together and binge-watching holiday movies for every holiday, and of course tickle fights. Their love and bond were evident in every moment we spent together.

Creating an Enjoyable and Stress-Free Experience

Right before our session, I had brought several pieces of my wardrobe for mom to choose from, which helped eliminate some of her stress of getting herself and everyone else dressed and out the door. I’m glad to hear that this helped make the experience more enjoyable for her. I also remembered that she had their hair and makeup done by a professional too and that really helps with time and stress.

Capturing Every Moment

Another thing I loved about this family was their resilience and fearlessness. The middle child, Ada, used a wheelchair, and the mom was worried about how we could incorporate it into the photoshoot. However, I adapted to the outdoor photo space chosen for wheelchair accessibility, (and mom’s strength in carrying her) making it easy for everyone to participate. It was such a joy to see Ada and her siblings having fun and being themselves, and I was honored to capture their beautiful family memories.

Using a blanket as a prop was a great way to get everyone sitting together so they could snuggle and take pictures together.

The family wore different outfits that reflected their personalities. The mom wore a piece from my wardrobe, and the oldest daughter wore a dress from American Eagle, which was the first piece mom bought because she loved the color. The middle child wore a dress from Old Navy, and the youngest wore Gap jeans and an Old Navy sweater. They completed their outfits with cowboy boots, adding a fun and playful touch to their style.

I’m thrilled to hear that the family enjoyed the session and that I was able to make them feel comfortable and at ease in front of the camera.
