Fall family photo sessions are everyone’s favorites. Every year my fall calendar books up faster and faster. I have so many lovely families that let me photograph them each year it’s just an honor. Last year I photographed this family in their backyard for an extended family session. This year we headed over to Tamarack Nature Center. Tamarack used to be one of my favorite places to go but every year it gets more and more crowded with photographers. I know that kind of sounds hypocritical being that I am one of those photographers. I’m just spoiled because this location is extremely close to me so I love going there. I think though because it’s one of the last remaining locations you can use for free is why it’s getting extremely crowded to use. I fear soon they will start charging a permit fee to use the space because why I have no issues with other photographers using the space with their one family I do get quite annoyed when photographers hold their mini sessions at these free public locations. They set up camp and it creates a burden for others trying to use the area. I personally feel if someone is going to hold a day of mini sessions for their clients they need to be on private lands and pay to use the area. But that’s just me and who am I to tell others how to run their business.

I’ll get off my soap box and just talk about this adorable family and share some of my favorite images from their fall family session. These kids are wonderful and fun and they were so cooperative they made my job easy. Even the youngest told me he had been practicing his smile for our session and I personally think he nailed it. So let’s get to the good stuff.
