Looking at scheduling a session with me but you have a question about how my process works? I thought I would round up some frequently asked questions. While I always think it's best to schedule a 15 minute phone call so we can chat about what you are looking for and I can explain my process in detail I do understand that we are all busy and sometimes getting on the phone to talk is not quite something you want to do. I hear you! So I'm always willing to communicate via e-mail or even text. Just send me a message. But let's get started on some frequently asked questions regarding portraits sessions:
Where will the session take place?
I have a studio in Northeast Minneapolis or the session can take place anywhere of your choosing. I have a very detailed location guide that will be sent to you once you book your appointment. It’s very helpful in finding the best location for you.
What if I can't keep my appointment?
If your child is feeling ill, please call to reschedule. Michele understands that sometimes, this happens. If you must cancel, please try to do so at least 48 hours before your session.
How do I pay?
Michele takes credit, debit, cash and check. There is also a payment plan that can be customized to fit your needs
What should I /We wear?
Stick to a color palette of 3 or 4 complementary colors. Layers are flattering and a great way to show style. Shoes are optional. Keep hair simple and clean and usually preferably down. If you can avoid wearing non-glare glasses. Wear neutrals, girls look great in simple floral patterns. Avoid matching outfits at all costs!!!! And when all else fails ask me about my styling services. Michele offers wardrobe for the family!
When will I see the photos?
Within two weeks after your session you will receive a password protected link to view your photos online. You will have one month to look over your images and choose your favorites. It’s advised you place your order before the month is up as your print credit will expire.
Questions about newborn sessions? I've got you covered here too:
When should I schedule my session?
Newborn sessions should really be scheduled while you are still pregnant. Michele is booked months in advance so in order to get on her calendar you need to plan ahead. She will try and get you in if she can but it’s not guaranteed and you may be referred out. There are 3 types of newborns sessions. Fresh 48 which is photographed while you are still in the hospital, a studio session which is best between 5-14 days and in-home newborn sessions these can take place at any time after baby has been home for about 5 days.
Will you pose my baby or use props?
Sure, I will place newborns for portraits; however I don’t “pose” in the way that many traditional newborn photographers do. I don’t believe that babies should be out of their parents arms for an extended amount of time. Newborns need to be held, nourished, and ultimately with their parents in their arms as much as possible. During my sessions, babies spend most of their time in their parents arms, where they belong. I think babies are beautiful as they are. i do not use props. I do have some headbands, bonnets and swaddles that we can use but if you have anything that has sentimental value I advice that you bring it. The pictures will have much more meaning if the items photographed are actual items your baby used.
How long do newborn sessions last?
I don’t want my photo sessions to be stressful. There is no time limit on an in-home or studio newborn session. I won’t spend hours trying to get baby to sleep or trying to get perfect poses. Awake or asleep, babies are perfect as they are. I have no expectations. I am usually in and out of families homes in under two hours. Sometimes this may take longer if we are having fun or there are a lot of specific shots or baby is fussy and needs to take nursing breaks. But I really don’t want to invade your precious time any longer than need be.
Interested in my baby plan membership? I've got answers for you too:
When should I book the baby plan?
Ideally Baby Plan’s should be purchased with your maternity or newborn session. Otherwise a family membership is the way to go.
Do we pay the entire balance upfront?
Baby Plans & memberships need to be paid in full in advance and are non-refundable.
Is there a minimum number of sessions required to book a Baby Plan?
No, if you are a new client with mQn Photography we welcome you as a new part of our family and the baby plan assures you get scheduled and on the calendar in advance of anyone else.
Can I post the images online?
You many post any images you have been given or have purchased. It’s nice when photographer credit is given but not necessary. Because remember I offer a great referral program.
Can I print Birthday Invitations with the photos?
Absolutely mQn photography can also design and print birthday invitations for you too. The quality is superb and the cost affordable.
Today I am sharing with you a Pismo Beach Photographer who is sharing an extended family session. Interested in an extended family session, definitely head over to her site to get inspiration.
