Being a new mom is an amazing, life-changing experience. And it all starts with those first few hours after your baby is born. That’s why I’m so thrilled to share this beautiful fresh 48 newborn photography session with you. This sweet baby girl was born in June at Fairview Southdale hospital in Edina, and I was honored to be included on the guest list to photograph her and her family during those first few hours after she was born.

Baby girl weighed in at 6 lbs 6 oz and was 20 inches long. She was absolutely perfect, and I’m so grateful that I was able to capture some beautiful images of her during those first few hours of her life. These types of photography sessions are called fresh 48 sessions because they are offered at the hospital 48 hours after baby is born and you are discharged.  However, with advances in medical care, many babies are now discharged from the hospital within 24 hours of birth and 48 hours for c sections.

I remember when my son was born 16 years ago. We were discharged from the hospital in 96 hours I think it was though I did have a c section and he was a little jaundiced and had to stay under the bilirubin lights. I so wish I would have had a photographer come in to capture those first precious moments of his life. It’s something I would have treasured.
