Spring in Minnesota really is beautiful. As we know it lasts about two days. Usually goes from winter to summer in 0 to 90. But the flowering trees do last about a week and this is a great time to schedule your family photo session. I know a lot of people love fall photos but if you choose a spring or summer time you’ll be ahead of the game when it comes to those holiday cards. No waiting until the last minute. The flowering trees is my favorite time of the year and I’ve been photographing my kids during this time for the past few years and it’s become a tradition because it’s so beautiful. More families should choose this time to schedule their family photos, I know they won’t regret it.

Mid May is about the time the trees start blooming here in Minnesota. Lots of locations to try out but last year I found one I really loved and will probably go back there again this year. The images I’m sharing here were taken about two years ago on the side of a street next to a building that apparently is private property because a security guard came and told us to leave. I didn’t realize that the public sidewalk next to the trees was not allowed. We hadn’t entered into the buildings parking lot or anything. But whatever. The images with the darker blooms? Ya that’s where we went after we were kicked out. I should have taken a pullback. We were basically in next to a Walgreens which we needed to go to because my son touched some poison Ivy. That’s the problem not going to a manicured park, but the new location I found since I can’t go back to the public sidewalk/private building spot is free of poison ivy. lol

I also want to note that I photographed on film too and those images are the ones below the darker bloom collage.  I photographed with Fuji 400h, Portra 400 and Portra 800.  I’m not sure which of the film stocks were my favorite but I can say the film images in general are my favorite here.
