In home lifestyle newborn sessions are usually quite popular because they are so convenient for new moms or any mom who has just had a baby. It can be hard to get out of the house when you have a toddler and a newborn or multiple toddlers and a newborn. Or even just a newborn! The second best part of an in home newborn session is no one is going to have pictures like yours. Because these are taken in your home the look of your images will vary depending on the type of light you have available and of course your décor. I do like clients to be aware that if you don’t have a light and airy home but you want light an airy images, do not schedule an in home session. While I can still create beautiful images from a darker home, I cannot create light where there is none. If you want light and airy newborn images and your home is dark, consider scheduling a studio session.

All my newborn sessions are lifestyle in nature. This means I do not pose baby. I may place baby in my Moses basket but I do not have props other than the basket and muslin swaddles. I do offer wardrobe for families but newborns don’t necessarily fit into any of the outfits I have for them unless they are at least 10lbs. Newborns look best tightly or loosely swaddled.

In home newborn sessions are nice too when you have older toddler siblings. Toddlers usually have no interest in having their photos taken with their new babies. Have no expectations but be pleasantly surprised when you can get them in one or two images.
