This studio maternity session in my Northeast Minneapolis studio was such a pleasure. Mom had scheduled an in-home newborn lifestyle session and wanted to use my studio wardrobe so I suggested that she come in and try on a few of my beautiful dresses in the studio wardrobe to see which she would like for me to bring to her newborn session and then we could also take a few maternity pictures too because you know why not!?

Maternity sessions are my favorite because moms get to play dress up and document this wonderful time in their life. I talk about this a lot but I always wish I would have had professional maternity pictures taken. Instead my husband took a point and shoot camera and snapped a quick picture of me everyone once in a while. Usually when I was on my way to the doctor’s appointment to check on the little peanut. The pictures are anything but flattering. Usually dark and out of focus because my hubby, well he’s not the photographer in the family. I love being able to provide maternity sessions for clients. And offering the wardrobe is the cherry on top. I know what photographs beautifully and many times especially when you’re pregnant you may not want to spend money on a dress that you’re only going to wear once for pictures. So we are now just waiting on baby. I’ve gotten a sneak peek of the baby’s nursery and it’s pretty amazing so I cannot wait to get to their home and photograph this growing family.
