Milestone sessions do not have to occur right at that month milestone marker like 3 months, or 6 months, or 9 months or 12 months, you get the idea. Petite milestone sessions in my Northeast Minneapolis studio can happen anytime within the first year or even after that first year if you want images of your toddler because they are absolutely adorable.

I usually recommend having milestone sessions based on your baby's actual milestone. Like they are having so much fun on their tummy, they lift their head so good! This can happen at 3 months but it might not be until 4.

Six month milestones are popular because it marks your baby's half birthday and while that is certainty something to celebrate often pictures turn out so much better if baby is sitting unassisted. Once they learn this, gobble it up; it's the most precious thing and you're going to want this documented professionally as this is when your baby is at the peak of babyhood. While this can happen right around 6 months it's usually month 7 by the time they are sitting unassisted. So if you have scheduled a 6 month session and your baby isn't sitting yet don't worry but think about putting the session off a bit until they are, you'll be glad you did.

The standing or 9 month session isn't very popular but it should be. This is another time to capture that sweet babyhood before turning one! Especially if you didn't do a sitting milestone earlier.

That one year milestone happens but once a year! And can be done with or without a cake. Without a cake and you can still sign up for a petite session. Cake smashes are actually a lot of work and a lot of pictures so those are signature sessions.
