That is right it is that time of year again when fall photo sessions in Minnesota start scheduling! July 15th marked the day RSVP's started and the calendar is booking up fast. In fact there are actually very few weekend dates available now. If you have more flexibility in your schedule I would recommend choosing a week day session. This also makes it easier to reschedule if it rains or even snows on your session date.
Many of my previous clients know how fast my fall schedule books up but every year I get last minute requests from new clients and I really do hate saying no but this year I'm so booked with newborn clients I will not be able to make concessions for the fall family photo sessions that everyone wants last minute. You will need to schedule early!
If you want information on how sessions work here is a brief run down:
To schedule your session you will choose a day and time from this booking link. Once you do that, an agreement will be sent to you as well as a short questionnaire about your session. And then your date is on the books! You will receive a few different guides between when you have scheduled your session and when your session takes place which will address FAQ, location, what to wear etc. Within a few weeks of your session a quote invoice will be sent to you and you will be able to pay your creative fee or go ahead and choose which collection you will be interested in.
A few days before our session is scheduled, I'll reach out to confirm our time and location... at that point, if the forecast is questionable or someone seems to be coming down with the flu, we can talk about our rescheduling options. Otherwise, that's the perfect time to ask any last minute questions or let me know if you've come up with a fun idea we haven't discussed.
My photo sessions have no time limit but we are typically done within 45-60 minutes or so. Because there is no time limit if there's some kind of wardrobe malfunction or child meltdown, I like to stay flexible. Finally, take a breath and relax... I promise to give the grown-ups (and kids) breaks throughout the session as needed, and to make it as painless as possible for everyone involved. If it would ease tensions to crack open a beer before I arrive - or better yet, serve mimosas with breakfast - well then I say go for it!
I want everyone to have fun and enjoy their time together. I'm just along for the ride documenting and capturing beautiful photos for you to enjoy for generations to come. This is fun!
Within just a couple of weeks of your session, you'll receive an email from me letting you know that your photos are ready. If you have already paid for your collection then you will have immediate access to your photos. If you have chosen to just pay for the creative fee in advance then you'll have a chance to marvel at your images for a bit in a slideshow, and then let me know which collection you want to purchase. After that, you'll have a full month to select the specific digital files and print items you want to use to fill that collection... zero pressure! If you're like me and like to see and feel things like album covers and paper types in person, I have samples of all the physical products I offer at my studio, and I'm more than happy to set up a time to have you come by. Geeking out over paper types and wall galleries is honestly one of my favorite parts of the job!
All sessions include use of studio wardrobe. Each collection includes some digital files and some print credit. If you choose to purchase your collection in advance of your session, the creative fee is waived. Otherwise the creative fee is due approximately 2 weeks before your session takes place and is non-refundable. The creative fee includes the time and talent of photographer to capture your family's beautiful images. Print credit is good toward your choice of anything in the gallery store: prints, frames, albums, additional digital files, etc. Please note that there is a $25 per person charge for extended family (grandparents, nannies, aunts, uncles, etc). If doing a large extended family session; there is no additional charge for children (under 18).
What you're going to do with your images is perhaps the most important aspect to consider when you're planning for a photo session, but it's all too often the aspect that's overlooked... all that time and money invested deserve a better return than photos gathering dust on a hard drive somewhere. You'll never get the same feeling looking at your photos on a screen as you will seeing them on your wall or flipping through the pages of an album, so I include a substantial print credit with every collection.
