1. Choose a Theme

The first step is to choose a theme for your photos. This can be anything from a specific location to a certain type of clothing. Once you’ve chosen your theme, it will be much easier to narrow down which photographer you want to book.  I prefer natural and not a lot of props so if this fits you then we should talk!

For this session, mom wanted something simple and classic. Baby boys sailor suit is from Feltman Brothers, and my studio in Northeast Minneapolis was the perfect location. The plain white backdrop provided the perfect canvas for our photos.

2. Book Early

If you have your heart set on a specific photographer, make sure to book early! Many photographers book up months in advance, especially during peak seasons like fall and spring. Once you’ve found someone you like, put down a deposit to secure your spot on their calendar.

3. Capture the Details

One of the things I love about professional photos is that they capture all the little details that you might otherwise miss. I was able to capture this little boys personality perfectly—from his inquisitive glances to his adorable giggles. If you have something in particular you want captured at your session be sure to tell the photographer what it is you want them to capture.
