I met this beautiful young mom when she scheduled a maternity session with me. She and her spouse are such lovely people. She knew right away she was going to schedule a petite newborn session in the studio. She was able to utilize the studio wardrobe for herself but also for dad and baby. We were originally scheduled for when baby was newer but we had to reschedule a few times and I always try to remain flexible because I know how hard it is to be a first time mom, or second time mom or heck 3rd and 4th time mom! It’s down right hard being a mom to a new baby.

Baby boy here was almost a month old when he came into the studio for his newborn session but he was perfect and because he was a little bit older fit into “newborn” outfits I have. Usually when baby is small I recommend keeping them swaddled and in your arms but if they are almost about 10lbs then I have adorable knit outfits that work.

This session was a petite session which means approximately 30 minutes in the studio. I do not pose any babies during any of my sessions and this goes especially for petite sessions. While you will still get a few of baby alone, the majority of your images will be baby in your arms. Right where they should be. It’s important to feed baby right before your session so you don’t lose time during your session to feed. A petite session isn’t for everyone but can be perfect for some.

This petite newborn session was perfect, baby got a little fussy but mama topped him off and he was good to go. Being held in mom & dad’s arms really helps with the fussiness. Babies just want to be held as they should be.
