On the 11th Floor NICU at M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital, a little fighter made remarkable strides every day. Born in Fargo, ND, this baby’s journey began with immediate surgery on their bowels. Recovery took an unexpected turn when liver numbers started to rise.

The Power of Determination

As a Minneapolis NICU Photographer, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing such journeys firsthand. The environment of the NICU is filled with a unique blend of hope, resilience, and determination. It’s a place where every moment counts and where the smallest victories are celebrated with utmost joy.

With unwavering determination and top-notch care from the dedicated team at Masonic, a diagnosis of Biliary Atresia was added to the initial bowel issues. Surgery on June 20th provided a glimmer of hope, although it’s often a temporary solution for babies with Biliary Atresia. Despite the possibility of a liver transplant in the future, the spirit remains unbreakable.

“Our main goal right now is eating and growing,” the parents shared, radiating optimism. “She will likely end up having a transplant in the next year. But just another hurdle we’ll conquer together! And we’re glad to be home.”
