Spring in Minnesota on Film at Hill Farm North Oaks Photographer

I've been on a three week vacation out in California soaking up all the sunshine I can. I'll blog about it all that later but I wanted to continue with at-least one blog post a week while I am away. So I'm taking a step back and sharing some of my analog film images from this past spring at Hill Farm located right in the heart of North Oaks. A very popular location for North Oaks families who want to show off a very popular attraction in our city. Except in these images and even in this session as a whole I didn't use the barn at all. It's a beautiful red barn and I love it in the summer and fall and even in the winter (its so beautiful against the white snow!) I don't particularly love in the spring. But the location still has a small area that I do love for spring portraits so that's where we stayed for our session. All the images here were taken on film, my favorite pastime.

I have a love affair with film. I love everything about it. The colors, the imperfectness of it. The way it takes me back to the actual moment the image was taken. It's just different than digital images. I get beautiful images with digital but I get beautiful memories with film. I think often of taking images on film for clients and I do try and take a few but usually that's just in the studio because bring film cameras to on location sessions is just more than I want to carry. As many of my clients can attest my regular camera bag is weighing me down as it is.

Of course if you are a client and you desire film images you can request a film session and I'd be happy to oblige. I'd probably still take some digital images to be on the safe side but the bulk of your images would be delivered by film scans and proof prints. How lovely would that be?
