Outdoor family portraits always look fun and natural – it’s what makes this option so appealing. What’s more, it gives your family the opportunity to enjoy some quality time together and make the shots your own.

If this will be your first outdoor family photoshoot, here is what you should know and expect during your session:

– Taking your photos during the golden hour makes for the best shots. This is the last hour before sunset and the first hour after sunrise. It can be an early start, but it’s well worth the wakeup call.

– Your photographer will bring the location into your photos. Choose a location that you love because your photographer will incorporate a lot of it into your photos. From different backdrops to smaller details such as leaves.

– You will receive a number of candid shots. When you place kids in an outdoor setting, they’re going to be busy. Go with it. Your photographer will be capturing a number of candid photos that showcase your natural smiles and expressions.

– There will be a number of combinations. Along with the candid photos, there will also be some posed shots. Your photographer will want to change up the group combinations to add variety, so don’t expect to be in all of the shots with everyone in your family.

– You’re going to need to trust your photographer. If you’ve explained what kind of photos you’re looking for, you can trust your photographer to get the job done. There is no need for you to try and control the session or your family. Just focus on relaxing and having fun.
